In 142 posts over the course of four years, the "A Year On The Field" project has provided a wide range of insights into our agricultural past and present, while at the same time focusing on a particular crop. Whether wheat, flax, potatoes, or hay, the project aimed to provide as global a perspective as possible, comparing different traditions and working methods and, above all, facilitating exchange.
We were delighted that, over the past few years, some of our growers have visited each other, thus enabling greater interaction at the practitioner level. We also hope that we have succeeded in highlighting museum collections and open-air museums as important elements of the overall picture.
Nevertheless, it is now time for the project team to focus on other projects, so the active phase of the A Year On The Field project will come to an end. Of course, the existing database will remain in place for the time being and will continue to serve as a digital archive while encouraging further exchange.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone involved for their excellent cooperation, exciting insights, and new friendships.
